State Stream
The State Stream provides a structured pathway for swimmers transitioning from introductory levels to competitive state-level events and may aspire to qualifying for national-level events. State Stream swimmers are selected based on standards created by Swimming Victoria; such as State Age, Open and Sprint qualifying times, Metropolitan Championship qualifying times, Metro Junior District Competition selection and All Junior performances. Junior swimmers are primarily selected based on age and their training capability, factors such as readiness to compete and progress within the sport are also considered. Training intensifies as athletes advance through the stream, starting with fundamental skill development and moving toward more specialised preparation for State events.
The squads within this pathway are;
-
State Open Squad (16+ years old)
-
State Age Squad (13 - 15 years old)
-
State Junior Squad (11 - 12 years old)
-
Barclay Squad (9 - 10 years old)
-
Hanson Squad (7 - 9 years old)
