AUSTRALIAN AGE CHAMPIONSHIPS – DAY 5 FINALS

 

BIG NIGHT FOR NUNA – 2 SILVER, 1 BRONZE

 

Night 5 of competition saw Nunawading with its largest representation in individual finals so far for the meet.

 

First up was Belinda Bennett in the Girls 17-18 years 200m Backstroke swimming 2:21.61 and finishing 9th.

 

In the Girls 12-13 year 400m Freestyle Kate Laidlaw (7th Australian & PB) and Meg Parry (9th Australian) swam terrific PBs in the heats and followed up with great swims in their first National finals. Well done girls.

 

Nerice Smith was up next in the Girls 14 year 400 IM finishing 10th in the final after swimming a massive PB in the heats.  Well done Nerice.

 

In the Girls 12-13 year 100m Breaststroke, Stephanie Moore won the SILVER medal in the time of 1:15.34.  Well done Stephanie on a great swim and a great meet overall.

 

In the Boys 12-13 year 100m Breaststroke Nicholas Groenewald finished as 4th Australian in the time of 1:13.39.  Well done Nic.

 

Next up was Belinda Bennett for her second final of the night, winning BRONZE in the Girls 17-18 800m Freestyle in 8:59.45. Well done Bindy.

 

In the Girls 14/u 4 x 50m Freestyle relay, the Nunawading team of Tamara Groves (14), Rebekah Keating (14), Madison Walsh (14) & Stephanie Moore (13) finished in 6th place. Well done girls.

 

And in the Boys 14/u 4 x 50m Freestyle relay, the Nunawading team of Benjamin Schoenmaekers (14), Nicholas Groenewald (12), Scott Huang (14) and Jack Currie (14) won the SILVER medal.  Great swimming boys.

 

Day six heats have continued this morning.

 

 

SQUAD TRAINING

 

JUNIOR B SQUAD – Wednesday nights

There will be no Junior B squad on Wednesday 14th & Wednesday 21st April 2010 at Caulfield Grammar. Swimmers in Junior B squad will be informed when these sessions will begin.
