Last night at the conclusion of the Victorian Open, Age & SWD Championships, Nunawading Swimming Club was announced as the 2006 Premier Swimming Club in Victoria.
Nunawading won the Championships with 2,538 points, with Carey Aquatic 2nd with 2,386 and Melbourne Vicentre 3rd with 1,914 points.
This was the result of a many fantastic individual efforts and a resolve by each individual and the team to swim every race to the best of their ability.
It was also a result of a lot of hard work by the coaching team. Just 2 years ago Nunawading finished 3rd, 1342 points behind the winning club. Congratulations to all the coaches on a wonderful effort and commitment.
There were many comments from swimmers and parents from Nunawading and many other clubs on the terrific team spirit within Nunawading at the Championships. It was great to see everyone supporting each other.
The culmination of spirit came on the last night when more than 25 swimmers who were not swimming, turned up to support the age group swimmers. There were more than 65 swimmers who received the Championship trophy on pool deck at the end of the meet.
Congratulations to all 88 Nunawading swimmers who swam at the meet. You are all 'Victorian Champions'.
